Dear people,
we have built. The house is more or less finished, but the acceptance inspection has not yet taken place.
We have been in the house more often lately because we are doing the wall coverings ourselves. Now to the problem. Since it has gotten warmer, we have often had the window open and every now and then there was a really strong sewer smell in the upstairs. Now we have found out that the toilet and bathtub are not vented through the roof, but through the wall, and this disgusting smell comes exactly from that. It affects all rooms upstairs on the relevant side of the house, including the bedroom. Especially in summer, I normally have the window open. Honestly, I don’t know how one is supposed to endure this smell permanently.
According to the construction company, it is okay to vent it this way.
Is that correct? Is there anything you can do about this stench?
Many greetings and thank you
