Hi,

the supplier for our [Raffstores] offers us the option to buy a self-cleaning version that cleans itself through the combination of sunlight and moisture (dew, rain, etc.).

Has anyone had experience with something like this? Do you really not need to clean it anymore? It’s quite a tedious task after all.
However, the extra cost is not insignificant, which is why we are unsure whether it is actually worth it.

The slats are coated with titanium dioxide. This is newly promoted as a "miracle substance" in the construction industry, whereas there is already a rethink happening in the cosmetics industry. It is even banned in food products nowadays. What it causes in the environment has not yet been sufficiently researched scientifically.

I wouldn’t let myself go crazy about it and would take care of cleaning the slats myself (there are now plenty of aids for this).

I don’t believe in a self-cleaning that equals a proper manual cleaning anyway. And that the titanium dioxide "filters" the air may be true, but at what "cost"?
