Hello,

I don't know if I'm in the right place, if not, please move this.

We are currently thinking about shading.

We are building a solid wood house, in case that's important.

Downstairs we want [Raffstores] (also called exterior blinds), so in the kitchen-living area and the living room. But what about upstairs? In our bedroom there is definitely a roller blind, because I sometimes need complete darkness.

But what about the three children's rooms? One has a dormer and a complete glass front facing south, so 4m of glass. The others have east or west windows.

What do you have? What works well? The budget currently includes the more expensive option with [Raffstore].

Thanks for your answers!

Best regards

Ambrosia

I don't want to miss our [Raffstores], especially in summer. For the bedrooms, there are Z-lamellas. The only pros I see for the blinds are during storms; then the [Raffstores] go up, which can be annoying in the children's room, and cleaning, which is quite a hassle.

There are also screens. They are more wind-resistant and can be chosen in different levels of light permeability. However, from the outside they still look the same. for cleaning venetian blinds there are (rotating) brushes sometimes with a water connection. With these, several slats can be cleaned at once from both sides.

The cleaning of a venetian blind may be more complex per se, but there are also advantages
- You can clean the venetian blind on the upper floor from all sides without having to use a ladder from the outside or needing a work platform
- You can clean venetian blinds in front of fixed glazing from all sides, shutters not without dismantling the slats

In the south definitely ground floor and upper floor as long as no trees provide shading there, provide Venetian blinds or roller shutters. Best with automatic tracking/shading control, otherwise it will become very warm.

On the south side, [Raffstores] are definitely better in the children's room. They can block direct sunlight (heat). But it is still bright in the room due to indirect light.
