Use a fireplace and cross heat exchanger as a heating system?

Hello everyone,
we are planning to buy a house soon that is built using passive house construction. A ventilation system with a cross-flow heat exchanger will be installed as the heating system.
The question is, does anyone have experience with this? Is that really a good type of "heating"? Additionally, a small heat pump will be installed that can reheat the supply air when needed.
Won't that blow the electricity bill? Since the domestic hot water will also be heated with an instantaneous water heater.
Is it allowed to install a wood stove in the house as well, or will there be problems with the ventilation system?
Thank you very much

Hello,
The question has come up several times. In short, the basic principle can definitely work, provided that proper planning/dimensioning is done. Without concrete figures (heating demand, etc.) it is difficult to assess.

That is relative. In a passive house, the performance requirements of the heat generator vary greatly depending on hot water demand, so it can make sense to separate the systems. With high hot water demand, a domestic water heat pump could be considered as an alternative.
From an installation perspective, there should be no problem as long as room air independence and appropriate certification are ensured. However, the heating output of even small stoves for the installation room in a PH can already be quite high, so overheating will not be uncommon.

Best regards
