Hello everyone,
starting situation: house from 1954, room with ground-level brick floor (formerly garage)
my plan: level the floor (recommendations? should be as inexpensive as possible). Then lay 50mm styrofoam panels for floor insulation (glued at the joints). On top of that a vapor barrier foil that prevents rising moisture, with edge insulation strips. Then floor heating with a staple system and then cover it with 50mm flowing screed.
What I am unsure about: The bricks in the floor absorb water from the ground capillarily, which can no longer evaporate because of the vapor barrier foil. Could I get a mold problem there? Or am I worrying for nothing because the bricks lie at ground level and also release their moisture back into the soil?
