Good day,

I have bought a house built in 1957. It has a wooden beam ceiling inside, and I am wondering whether it would be sensible to treat it (varnish, glaze, ...). What do you think? What should I use best for that? Glaze?

Sunny greetings from Austria :)

Thanks and best regards,
Michael

Hello Michael,
What makes sense depends on how
1. The ceiling is pretreated and
2. What you want as the final result.

Hello Neige,

thank you for your reply.
The ceiling itself is currently raw - no pests or fungal infestation.
The final result is not relevant, as it will be insulated and then covered with drywall.

Best regards,
Michael

Then I would recommend a glaze. It penetrates the wood and virtually protects it from the inside.
