Hello,
we have a concrete staircase in our new build and are currently considering how to cover it.
We will probably use slate slabs, matching our slate tiles on the ground floor. However, they should be normal thick steps with an overhang (not tiled).
I would find it nice if the risers were white, and only the treads made of slate slabs, as otherwise it might be a bit dark.
Does anyone possibly have it like this?
Can the risers simply be painted white, since we actually never go upstairs with shoes on. My husband fears that there could still quickly be stains on the white painted areas. Also, for example, from mopping.
What other options are there? Does anyone have experience?
Thanks in advance ; )

You could paint me with latex paint or with so-called [Elefantenhaut] (a transparent, smudge-resistant coating; somewhat glossy, depending).

You must have the risers plastered after the slate slabs have been laid. Or is your staircase as perfect as exposed concrete?
