Hello,

I am very interested in what you think is the better option for roofing.
Clay roof tiles or concrete roof tiles??? I have heard that concrete roof tiles weather over time!!!???
But I am not knowledgeable in that regard.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of both options?

Best regards

In the past, in the generation of our parents, it was like that too. They don’t look nice anymore now. Today they are manufactured differently, so they no longer weather.

Clay is more expensive. And the rumor is still a reason for many to say: we have clay tiles, not the "bad" concrete roof tiles.

We – also here in the Bauexperte forum – have been told that the myth is flawed and we use concrete... the money saved can be found again in other things in the house.

Hello,

We also couldn’t decide for quite a long time what should go on the roof of our current new building. Then it ended up being coated concrete roof tiles (Nelskamp). The decisive factor was the price. The argument that you rarely look at your roof from above, especially with a low roof pitch (20° in our case), made the decision easier for us.
Best regards, Phil

We will decide on clay roof tiles. Currently, there are hardly any price differences compared to concrete roof tiles (according to our roofer). Matt black engobed clay roof tiles from Creaton currently cost well under one euro per tile. At that price, I am happy to stick with clay...

Hello,

I would put that into the realm of wishes, because - as you rightly stated - the "original" clay roof tile no longer exists; or only at exorbitant sums (custom-made)

A double-glazed concrete roof tile combines the desire for durability, appearance, and economic consideration. Although I always have to smile that mossy roofs are such a Jehovah topic, while on the other hand the call for ecology is getting louder and louder.

Rhenish greetings
