Hello,

we also want to embark on the adventure of building a house and are planning to build a timber frame house according to Kfw55.

While one company suggested the advantages of an installation layer for the exterior walls ("Sensible to never compromise the tightness of the house"), another strongly advises against it ("Not necessary at all - just takes up space!").

We are still uncertain about the ideal wall structure. What needs to be considered regarding the tightness of the walls? How is it with subsequent installation work? What are your experiences?

Best regards

Hello Hello

Definitely with.
Or do you want to seal every outlet and switch box as well as all cable passages airtight?

would that be the case? A provider who works without an installation level said that an air draft problem would not occur...

The construction contractor spoke of airtight installation boxes with which it is easily possible to achieve tightness. That sounds plausible to me at first. But how does it behave when changing the installation afterwards?

Of course exactly the same, only that the (somewhat more expensive) airtight container only makes sense if it is properly installed - and pulling cables afterwards is always a bit of an issue. I would also - if there is enough space - always recommend the installation level.

If you want to install something later (pulling cables), you may, if no installation level is present, simply not damage the foil. The sockets are in any case inside the "airtight" room. If you know the wall structure and work carefully: no problem. And if the foil is ever damaged: just repair it with the appropriate system tape. And how often does that actually happen in practice? So when planning the sockets, simply plan for more rather than fewer – because there is no such thing as too many.
