Hello,
we are considering buying a detached house built in 1969. The upper floor is constructed using timber frame construction. Until now, I wasn't really a fan of timber worm construction. But somehow the house fits!
At first, it is about getting a rough orientation on the possibilities for us.
The option of exterior wall insulation (besides pollutant tests) is an important purchase criterion for us.

The current wall structure (inside to outside)

1.5 cm drywall
2.5 cm chipboard V20
4 cm air (still)
6 cm glass wool
5 cm cement-bonded wood wool panel (Heraklith)
2 cm lime plaster

An Isofloc blown-in insulation (instead of 4 cm air) would already bring quite a bit, but still not the standard we are aiming for.

Is an ETICS possible on the Heraklith with this system? It would have to be 16-20 cm Neopor to at least mathematically achieve the value. My mind resists, but I am happy to be proven wrong. Are there any other reasonable insulation options WITHOUT completely tearing down the wall?

How is it with formaldehyde in the V20 boards? I know that 98% of all chipboards contain formaldehyde, but was it worse in the 70s than it is now?
