Hello,

we are currently having tiles (30x60) installed. Unfortunately, in our opinion, the tiler has done a poor job. The joints vary between 3-6.5 mm.

In part, it looks terrible. He justifies it with deviations in the tiles. Although they are very expensive.

Is it possible that such tolerances are acceptable? Or how can we argue against it?

Thank you

I am a chimney builder and tiler myself, and very meticulous. Unfortunately, the IHK experts consider joint differences of up to 3 to 5 millimeters as normal, as well as height differences of 2 to 3 millimeters. Sad but true. No matter how expensive the tiles are.

Example: My brother had his living room tiled because I didn't have time, black slate imitation. When I arrived, I marked at least 30 spots with tape where you can hurt yourself if you are barefoot. Then the expert came, and the tiler only had to replace 4 tiles, but those had extreme edges of 4 millimeters.
