Hello,
tiles are being laid in a new building for the living kitchen / hallway / storage room.
The tiles are already laid and after inspection I immediately stopped the upcoming grouting because I believe the work is absolutely poor.
1. I saw (since I was also briefly present during the laying) that no primer was applied (this is part of the contract).
2. No stainless steel edge strips were installed at the expansion joints at the door passage (this is part of the contract).
3. The tiles were cut very unevenly in some places, so that some tiles are flush against the wall and some have up to 17 mm distance to the wall.
4. Sometimes tiles are directly adjacent (no joint), but there are also joints up to 4 mm wide. Occasionally tiles are laid crooked, so that a joint along one tile becomes up to 2 mm wider.
5. Some corners of the tiles are broken off (whole and cut tiles).
I was told that this is good work, and that it cannot be done better (due to the [fishbone pattern]) and that only the tiles directly against the wall need to be cut.
All tiles are calibrated and very high quality.
I now have to decide how to proceed, since I could not reach an agreement in a conversation and was told that the work is fine and cannot be done better.
Thank you very much
Wolfgang
