I want to equip several dormer windows in my attic apartment with clamped thermal honeycomb blinds; in the bedrooms, they primarily serve for darkening (I know: all blinds can do that), but right after that comes the thermal insulation for all windows. (And yes, I know that blinds directly on the glass insulate even better, but they also block a bit more light, because the pleats and possibly the rail are stacked in front of the glass – and I definitely don’t want that, because the windows are not huge compared to the room sizes.) I want to use the blinds for many years and not have to replace them at the next opportunity.

The range of offers and price differences for blinds is huge, even if I already exclude blinds from interior decorators and custom-made ones for cost reasons. Does anyone have expertise on what the differences are? Whether blinds from certain manufacturers insulate better? Or are more durable (what exactly does that mean – tear resistance, shape stability, dirt resistance, ...??)? Or what else differentiates them?? Thanks in advance!
