The neighboring property belongs to the church... how to proceed?

We have purchased a plot of land on which an old house stands that we wanted to renovate.
Now the situation has changed and preserving the existing house is unfortunately no longer possible.
We will now have to demolish the old house and build a new one.
Problem: Ideally, the signatures of the immediate neighbors should be submitted for the building application.
One neighboring plot belongs to the church.
Has anyone of you ever had experience with such a situation or an idea of how it might be best to get the necessary signatures?
Thanks for your tips.

Hello,

With that nickname, I would guess chemist or pharmacist :)

Why do you foresee a problem prematurely when it has not occurred yet? Knock on the door of the responsible diocese and explain what you intend to do. I can't think of any reason why they would put obstacles in your way if all building regulations are complied with; church people are humans too :D

Kind regards

Building experts are right, notwithstanding that in some areas / federal states, depending on the applicable building regulations, no written consent from neighbors is required anymore.

Thank you for the answers.

I have contacted the diocese, which is responsible for the management of church properties.
They were very friendly.
In our case, it is as follows:
If it is only about a signature for the building permit in terms of neighborly approval, then it is sufficient if the pastor of the congregation signs.
If we need a declaration of assumption of setback areas, then it must be done by the church's building committee and it becomes more complicated.

Since we do not need a declaration of assumption of setback areas, the pastor's signature is sufficient for us.
So it shouldn’t be that complicated after all :)

Thank you for your encouragement!
