Hello everyone,

we have the problem that the edges of our terrace steps are quite sharp/pointy. Is there something like seat cushions or something similar? Actually, the issue is that people would like to sit on the steps sometimes. But since the edges are so sharp, you hurt yourself or damage clothing as soon as you slide a little back and forth. I was thinking of something like classic garden chair cushions. They are almost tailor-made in that they consist of a seat and a backrest surface. I had hoped that there might be something like that for stone stair edges/steps or terrace steps as well. Unfortunately, I haven't found anything.

Do you know if such a thing exists?

Or do you have any other ideas on how to make it as simple as possible so that one could also lie down/sit on it?

In almost every furniture or garden store there are cushions. For those who want more: Ikea, Amazon, Etc. Beer cushions would also do.

I would have already clamped the flex and added a bevel.

Does it still look nice then? Do you have such a stone left and could you test it?

Yes, you definitely need a chamfer.

There are upholsterers or interior decorators who can make something like this to measure in a wide selection of textile materials. Of course, there are also waterproof fabrics, for example from the boating sector. Maybe an awning fabric on the top and a durable PVC fabric on the bottom, which is also wipeable. A slightly firmer composite foam as padding rounds off the whole thing.

Even a nice artificial leather would survive a short rain shower unscathed. It is important that the foam does not get wet. The disadvantage, of course, is that you sweat on it.

I would recommend the product Airtex from the company Mehler here. Top material.
