Hello everyone,

I have the option to get a large quantity of terrace slabs very cheaply. However, I would like to lay them on my parking lot.
The thickness is 3.8 cm. These are not approved for car use. The manufacturer is KANN.
We don't need to talk about the risk and warranty situation. But I’m asking about practice and experiences whether you have done something like this and if it worked?
For example, my neighbors have laid 4 cm thick slabs as a path where the in-laws always park - no problems, no cracks. But that is only occasional use.
So I’m asking here. Thanks!

Sure, you can install them there ... and cracks are to be expected - depending on the substructure, sooner rather than later :)

Hello,

I had the conversation with our garden landscaper regarding this only last week.
We wanted to lay 5 cm thick slabs in the entire driveway, he said that would not last very long without cracks.

Maybe it would look different with a concrete base, but with gravel the risk would be too high.

We will now take 8 cm slabs.

You can forget it. Pretty quickly you will have cracks. Especially when we have another heat/cold period and a lot of weight on the slab again.

I have just browsed through a hardware store flyer, also out of my own interest. They offer paving stones, 6 cm thick, labeled as "suitable for car traffic." I assume they wouldn't offer that (for warranty reasons) if it were definitely certain that cracks would appear. Whether the difference between your 5 cm and 6 cm is relevant, I don't know.

I also quickly googled again and found the note that 5-6 cm thickness is sufficient for private use if the subsoil is carefully prepared.

I have no practical experience yet; we are in the phase of "waiting for the building permit."

That only works with an ultralight fleet. I recommend the Peel P50.
