Dear community,

in our research on patio roofs, we moved away from glass roofs towards a louvered roof.

Who among you has also chosen a louvered roof and would be so kind as to share their experiences?

Another point is the louver direction and thus the tilt direction. Our patio faces directly south. (Photos see attachment). From our point of view, the louvers should therefore run from the house wall to the south, so that they can be tilted from east to west. Or are we mistaken? :)

Thank you.

Good day, take a louvered roof from Warema. 5 years warranty. Or Rensson and Brustor.
We have one from Pratic Brera from Italy. Movable louvered roof, completely worn out. Repaired and broke again. The thing is catastrophic. And leaks like crazy... and something like that calls itself a premium manufacturer. You can gladly view it with me in Hanover. The installation company from the East German area was great and installed over 50 louvered roofs, but only 4 of the mentioned manufacturer because various problems occurred. There is hardly any price difference compared to the well-known manufacturers. 2 well-known ones were even significantly cheaper and one about 1000 euros more. I chose the completely wrong one.

Just as a thought..

If you want glass or slats as a roof because you fear it might become too dark inside, I can reassure you. It looks in the photo as if you have many other windows on the floor, also on the sides. You have enough light in the house. We have a south terrace with a fixed roof 8m x 4m (sheet metal with white sub-lathing) across the entire width of the house. No guest has ever found our room too dark. In winter, the sun is so low that the light reaches far into the room. And with these summers, such a roof is a dream!

Our contact person was at the house yesterday. We discussed the last details and he took measurements. I don't have any personal experience. We came across the company because my wife didn't want a glass roof. The louvered roof from acquaintances has been installed for a few weeks. They are satisfied. It is not long-term experience, of course.

Thanks for the input. That is really reassuring. :)
