Hello,
we have commissioned a construction company to carry out three jobs on our property.
All three jobs were completed.
The first job has been paid for but has significant defects that we have already requested to be fixed several times.
The other two jobs are unpaid because we never received an invoice.

Admittedly, we have had a dispute with the company and the company also has other significant problems.

Now I am interested in:
- do I, as the client, have to demand the invoices for the last two jobs?
- when do the invoices for the last two jobs expire?

Thank you very much

1) You don’t have to.

2) If there are no other legal regulations for construction services than the usual ones, which I don’t know off the top of my head, the limitation period is 3 years (end of the calendar year).

Normally it is 2 years and then until the end of the calendar year. In other words, if the service was rendered in this year, the deadline ends on 31.12.2014

Hello,

You should not be allowed to spout such nonsense without consequences!

Since 1.1.2002, the regular statute of limitations (§ 195 Civil Code) has been three years. This period applies to all claims of daily life that are not regulated otherwise, for example claims for payment of purchase price or rent. The regular statute of limitations begins to run at the end of the year in which a claim has become due. This means that invoices from 2009 in particular are at risk of expiring at the end of 2012!

Best regards
