Hello everyone
we currently want to have our 13-step staircase (currently tiled) renovated by a carpenter.
A wooden floor is being laid in the living area, which should also be applied to the steps.
The carpenter roughly quoted us 3000€ (excluding material/pure labor). The steps will be made directly from the floor material, the edges will be bought directly from the floor dealer.

Does anyone have experience whether 3000€ is reasonable just for the labor?

I am grateful for any help.

Best regards

Fabian

Well, dealing with crystal balls is always difficult. What kind of staircase is it? Straight flight, spiral staircase, with/without risers? Railing mounted on the step? A photo would be helpful.

Well, what all is included in the work? Removing tiles, smoothing the subfloor, cutting each step individually, paying attention to grain patterns, etc. Cutting risers and installing everything.

3000 euros = about 60 to 50 hours at an hourly rate of 50 to 60 euros (I assume gross). That doesn’t seem completely unreasonable to me. Did he give a rough estimate for the material?
