Hello,
I want to order gravel (grain size 2-5mm) and am now trying to calculate the correct amount. The gravel is intended to serve as a base for lawn edging stones (24cm long, 12cm wide). With the lawn edging stones, I plan to lay a total length of 40 meters. 40 meters would be 4000 cm.
Assuming I want to make the gravel layer 5cm deep/high everywhere. Then according to my calculation:
4000 cm (total length of lawn edging stones) x 5cm (gravel layer) x 12cm (width of the stones and thus also the gravel layer). This would result in 240,000 cm3 = 2.400 m3.
At the hardware store, among other things, 1,000kg (bulk density 1,500) gravel is available for purchase. How do I know how much gravel in kg I now need or have I calculated correctly at all? Math was never my strength anyway..
