Hello everyone,

my wife and I recently purchased an old apartment that is being completely renovated.
In this context, we have received the first offer from our construction manager for the special wishes regarding the bathrooms. As a layperson, I find it difficult to judge whether the additional work services specified are justified. Therefore, I would be very grateful for your assessment and/or advice.

1. Basement: The construction service description includes a normal shower with surface-mounted fittings and a corner bathtub. However, we have decided on a walk-in shower (with a 10cm pedestal) with flush-mounted fittings and a freestanding bathtub (with a 10cm pedestal).

For both, an additional workload of 24 hours or 3 days is being charged as an extra effort. From my point of view, completely exaggerated? The formwork and concreting of the pedestal will be charged separately anyway.

2. Attic:

The construction service description here includes a washbasin, toilet, and electronic fan.
In addition, a shower that was not planned is now being added.

The following is now listed as additional work/items:

- Direct side ventilation of the wastewater pipe: This work would have been necessary anyway without the shower, right?

- Room ventilation for interior bathrooms: Should also be covered by the electronic fan?

- Travel and energy costs: Completely pointless, since the workers have to be on site anyway.

Thanks in advance for your remarks and comments!

What is meant by the 10cm platform? Artificial platform so that the shower can be called "floor-level"? I can imagine that the seals account for a large part as well as the edges? But that is just a guess

Good evening,

To be able to answer your questions, more information about the type - maisonette? - and age of the apartment is needed.

Rhenish greetings

Without proper information, I guess that the platform results from the required slope of the wastewater pipes. Yes. Rhine regards

Yes, it is a maisonette apartment that is being completely renovated.

Exactly one artificial pedestal that will be concreted so that the shower is flush with the floor.

Thanks in advance for your comments!
