Spackling filigrandecke - Only spackle the joints or the whole ceiling?

Hello forum,

filigree ceilings were installed in our building. The ceilings are now to be primed with [Tiefengrund] and then the joints are to be filled with a filler putty, smoothed, and sanded. Afterwards, both ceilings and walls are to be wallpapered with [Malervlies]. Is it sufficient to just fill the joints, or does the entire ceiling need to be filled?

Only the joints were filled in at our place, it looks good.

Everything was filled with putty here, even with two layers and then sanded. However, our delicate ceilings also had some cracks and were partially a bit crooked. The plasterer had a look at it and advised us accordingly. He said he would not only fill the ceilings at the joints and then paint them.
