Hi guys,
if I retroactively build a drywall partition with the goal of sound reduction: is it worth installing a SK3 with 42db? Or is the advantage over a SK2 with 37db so marginal that it doesn't justify the extra cost?
The wall will be double boarded with Diamant on either 50mm or 100mm profiles (so total thickness 100mm or 150mm). According to the manufacturer, you get 57db with a 100mm wall thickness, and 61db with 150mm.
That brings me to my next question: if the door is the biggest weak point in the drywall partition, and for cost reasons I only want to install a maximum of an SK3, is it even worth building a 150mm wall? (and on top of that, there's also flank transmission, continuous screed under the new wall, etc.).
It would be great if you could share your experience here! Thanks and best regards
