Hello dear all,

we are building a single-family house in the Eifel with Danwood. We just received the preliminary soil report by email and honestly, I don't understand a thing. Professionally, I am more specialized in legal matters; the topic of house construction is completely new territory for me. Maybe someone of you can take a look at the attached report and briefly describe in a few words what awaits me/us there. That would be really kind.

Greetings

Eric

You don’t have to understand this either, because it is meant for the civil engineer who understands it. So, you have a quite easily buildable plot, blessed without groundwater problems and with some infiltration capacity. You can build without a basement, using either a slab or strip foundation without any problems. Ask which option is more cost-effective for you. You have excavation soil that is quite suitable for later garden landscaping, so don’t have everything hauled away but order the terrain modeling from the civil engineer at the same time; he will tell you what he needs and what must be removed. You are lucky, the land is okay for building. Others here have other concerns. Karsten
