Hello everyone,

I am looking for software in which I can document our entire house construction. I want to manage the applications, the offers, the plans, etc. with the software. Additionally, I want to keep a construction diary during the building phase and also store documents related to the construction sections, such as [Schlitzpläne], etc. After the house is completed, all documents should be neatly stored and documented in the software.

Which software can you recommend to me here?

Thanks
Regards
Manuel

We use the Microsoft file system, New folder House construction with corresponding subfolders. The files with Word, Excel, PDF, jpg with exact file names and date versions. We have no desire to convert all files into one system, Parallel there are now 3 house folders as paper. There are 1000-year-old parchments, but no data carriers.

I fully agree. Create an account with a cloud storage service (Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, Dropbox) and save all documents there. Then you can access them from anywhere (phone, tablet, different laptops), you don’t have the risk of losing everything if the hard drive crashes. Also, you have version management for all files.

If necessary, get yourself a decent scanner with which you can quickly scan multi- and double-sided documents (in case something comes by mail), and save the scanned versions also in the cloud, so you really have everything quickly accessible (but I would still file the paper versions again).

Additionally, I document everything in a Blogspot diary. Here I briefly write (like in a diary) e.g. how much mortar we mixed for the foundation of our garden shed and, based on photos, how we built the shed. Or the various attempts for our facade paint are stored there... and so on and so forth. Since 2013, I have created about 500 entries there! Everything can be easily found through tags. That helps us a lot to this day.

We document everything in miro. An online whiteboard. You can upload documents, photos, text, videos and more, and partially display them natively – alternatively download them again. Comment, work on it simultaneously with several people. Slightly color-coded and with a bit of structure, you can find everything relatively quickly and have good documentation. In the paid version, you can also export it as a PDF => Maybe consider spending 15 EUR at the end for a one-month subscription. For a construction diary that others are supposed to see, the well-known ones are better suited though. Although – in a pinch, you could also map it as your own board and share the link to it. Edit: On the topic of scanning and paper documents: Office Lens from Microsoft is the app of your choice ;-) For all mobile platforms.
