Hello,

I want to install a click cork floor. Now I have read that when installing over underfloor heating you first lay a PE foil and then the cork. Is this really how it should be done and if so, what is the reason for it?

We also installed (100 sqm) last weekend.

The foil must go underneath to prevent rising residual moisture. Your cork will probably be sealed from above, but not from below. You lose the entire warranty if you install without foil. I've read this in every installation manual so far.

By the way, you shouldn't glue the foil... and in the basement, I would really wait long enough, otherwise you'll have moisture under the foil.
We had a CM measurement done 2 days before installation, and the residual moisture was 0.2%, so definitely safe... according to the manufacturer, our cork can be installed from 0.5% residual moisture.

The foil also had a positive aspect. The cork slides better on it, and you don't get as dirty as on the bare screed.

I hope that helped.
