Hi!

I have several areas in my garden where the sun almost never shines, and I wanted to ask which plants do particularly well without sun. I would like to beautify these little shady spots a bit.

I look forward to your advice!

Best regards, sennor :)

Hi sennor!

There are really enough plants that thrive best in the shade. And the idea of beautifying shady spots with plants is very good! I will now simply list some plants that prefer the shade. Then you have the agony of choice. ;)

Columbine, spotted arum, astilbes, azaleas, comfrey, wood anemones, ivy, monkshood, ferns, creeping bugleweed, periwinkle, liverleaf, lungwort, spring snowflake, lily of the valley, hellebore, purple bellflower, viburnum species, snowdrops, daylilies, violets forget-me-nots, bellflowers of the forest, woodland grasses, sweet woodruff, woodland lilies, winter aconite, dwarf mountain pine.

You should keep in mind that waterlogging must be avoided with most bulb plants. Shade plants almost always need a rather acidic soil. You can achieve this if you cover the soil with a layer of leaf or bark mulch.

Have fun planting!
Best regards,
Garden Design ;)

Hi!

I really have the agony of choice here. Thanks for the good tips! The best thing is to make a plan of where I want to have which plants, right? By the way, is it true that [Mai- or Schneeglöckchen] are poisonous plants?

Cheers,
sennor :)

hi! with all the many plants, it is really often difficult to make the right choice. they all like to grow in the shade, but are not suitable for every shady spot, as this is not the only criterion that must be met... best regards, yung :)

Hi!

There are indeed some plants among them that really bloom beautifully. When the first flowers appear towards the end of winter, it is surely a nice sight. I find [Leberblümchen] and [Maiglöckchen] particularly beautiful. Is it best to sow them?

Best regards, sennor :)
