Hi, I removed the old tiles in my hallway with a rotary hammer! But I'm unsure about the light-colored floor! Isn't that the tile adhesive or is it already the screed? I wanted to sand the whole thing tomorrow!

The screed is light grey and a layer of tile adhesive is not particularly thick. Under the tile, you should be able to see remnants of the tile adhesive.

Best regards

Hello "Marcel89". The photos are unfortunately not conclusive. In the second photo, it appears that a screed on a separating layer was installed. The buildup thickness of the light layer supports this. Cement screed would be light gray, as "Sabine" already noted, but there were and still are other screed binders besides cement! The third photo, on the other hand, would rather suggest that the tiles were laid using the medium-bed method at the time. "You never really know," as the saying goes. Please check the average installation thickness of the layer regarding its thickness. If it is over 15mm, then it will actually be a screed; if it is below, it could be tile adhesive (possibly + leveling compound). ---------------------------------------------- Regards: KlaRa
