Over the weekend, we noticed that the seal on the glass (outside) of some windows is very dirty, but to us it looks more like mold.

The window installer relies on the statement from the company (although we never signed anything or received this information).

Contamination between the glazing seal and the pane: The residues between the glazing seal and the pane do not constitute a defect. The following information applies: “Dry glazing is a standardized procedure for sealing joints between the frame profile and the glass pane. This is referred to as a functional joint, which is not completely tight due to traffic loads such as wind pressure, driving rain, or heat exposure. To prevent water accumulation in the rebate area, drainage and pressure equalization openings are milled out. Penetrating water can carry dirt particles, which are filtered out in the sealing area and remain as dark residues. These are mostly visible with light-colored seals (e.g., gray). This has no impact on the functionality of the glazing system and therefore does not constitute a claim. This type of contamination does not justify a defect.”

There are small droplets in the gap and also in the seal. One could try to lift the rubber and clean the spots, but then we would have the problem again. The house is 1 year old and we haven’t even moved in yet.

I hope you can help us.

can you post a photo? During construction, a lot of dust and dirt is generated. This spot by the window quickly looks really bad. It was/is the same for us. Apparently, it mostly washes away with heavy rains after the construction period. The rest has to be done manually. However, every spring the pollen dust will greet there. This also varies from manufacturer to manufacturer in terms of the extent of this condition. Our windows have it rather more strongly. On other construction sites with significantly more expensive windows and different exterior seals, it is hardly visible.

Thank you for an answer. That will not wash out, as it depends on the seal.

Oh, you have a light seal, which I haven't seen before. In my opinion, the stains on your side also look really "shabby." With our windows, most of it has actually washed out. In your case, it does seem that the seal itself has taken on these stains. Have you already tried cleaning it? You can also open the windows and remove the glass element. If you have the manufacturer show you this and then open the windows accordingly and clean all the seals? Do these stains come back?
