Hi,

is it okay if my monthly mortgage payment is 50% of my net income? I am not particularly demanding. I am currently trying to decide whether to go for a solid house or a prefab house.

Therefore, the question is how high the payment should ideally be.

Thanks, regards Michi

Depends on the income and the circumstances... with 1000€ net, with a wife and 2 children, that is certainly not possible, with 10000€ net and single, it could be possible...

Planned woman with 2 children and a net salary of 2000 euros plus child benefit! (actually more, but calculated very very poorly!)

With "only" 2000 net, I would never in my life impose a rate of 1000€, I think that will go badly wrong!

This discussion is roughly like this: How fast do you drive on the highway? Sort of like a rough rule of thumb.

I have the following questions for the OP:
1) What is the cold rent (that is without electricity, water, heating, additional costs)?
2) How much do you REGULARLY save monthly in savings books, savings accounts, daily allowance without mandatory purposes like annual insurances etc...?
