Dear forum community,
in 2011 we built a single-family house in Saale-Holzland, near Jena, Thuringia.
We have an HPSU compact 508 from Rotex. The system is connected with 2 solar modules in the so-called "drainback system."
My inquiry primarily concerns our two leaking solar collectors for water heating on the roof.

According to the company's statement, these collectors have the designation T4S. The house and the heat pump system were completed and installed in 2011.
Now, after about 11 years, we have to find that the collectors are leaking. A service on the heat pump as well as the collectors has so far been rejected by the surrounding SHK specialist companies, as no one is familiar with ROTEX (now Daikin).

Currently, I am asking for tips, possibly hints regarding the following questions:

[*]Who has similar experiences with defective solar water heating modules from ROTEX in connection with a heat pump?
[*]Who knows SHK companies in Thuringia that are familiar with Rotex systems and can also maintain them?
[*]Does it make sense after only 11 years, out of frustration with the existing heating system, to think about replacing the entire heat pump system + solar modules?
[*]Who has experience with ROTEX service directly? (ours is not good, or there was rarely a response in recent years)

Thank you in advance for your time and possibly your tips.

Best regards

Regardless of whether the ST is still intact or not, it would make sense to dismantle it and replace it entirely with photovoltaics. Since you already have a heat pump, heating your water will no longer cost you anything afterward, and when it is warm, you can use the electricity for something else. Sell it in an emergency.

Definitely do not invest any more money in ST.

Thank you to Deliverer. Sounds like it’s from my supervising SHK company... He asked me afterwards whether I would prefer to switch to a photovoltaic system in the future... But he didn’t give me a reason. But there must be reasons why people move away from ST again...? The next topic is the disposal of the ST modules... Where to put them?

Produces enough hot water in summer for an entire swimming pool - but you only need a few liters for the shower. In winter, nothing comes from the roof. In that respect, not cost-effective. Photovoltaics produce endless electricity in summer - your heat pump makes plenty of hot water during the day. The rest of the sun’s energy you feed into the grid as electricity and you even get money for it (or you use the electricity yourself - right now I have 6.64 kW coming from the roof and the wallbox charges the car with it). In winter, photovoltaics fare the same as ST. On sunny days, however, I still have a surplus. Take them to the recycling center. Private households can do this in normal household quantities without any problems and FOR FREE. They are treated like electronic waste.

I sold my three modules from '98 for 50,- € via a well-known classifieds portal. They were picked up within two days.
