What do I have to consider if I want to roof my house with neighborhood help so that I don't get into trouble?

So pay attention, you may reimburse your people for their expenses and costs, their travel expenses, etc., but not salary / wages from which they make a profit. (=Schwarzarbeit)

Thank you for the quick response, where can one find detailed information about this? I mean, there must be a law that describes undeclared work and neighborhood help and similar things?

Employee Leasing Act - AÜG is what it's called. You need to read up on it.

Hello hans0n,

Where are you from? Here, neighborhood help is allowed. Of course, you are not allowed to pay your workers any wages because otherwise it counts as illegal work. I was even once told that even food is a form of payment. But I'm not sure if that is actually true.

Hello!

You are allowed to do that as long as you do not pay them a salary. That means: You may pay them for any costs they incur (travel, meals, etc.). But not more. They must not make a profit from it like in a job.

Best regards

Nico
