Hi Community,
I am a tenant of a single-family house in Portugal (floor area approx. 100m2) and since the roof is leaking, the landlord is currently installing a new roof. He also asked if I would like to have windows inside. That would definitely make sense, but I have concerns because the roof is designed as a "sandwich." Between two rather thin metal plates, a layer of insulating material is installed.
My consideration is that the outer layer of the roof will heat up a lot in summer, while the lower layer, which is insulated, will not. The roof will therefore warp due to the temperature difference between day/night or summer/winter. That could mean that any windows where they meet the roof might become leaky quite quickly.
The roofer says there is no problem, but I am very uncertain and prefer to get further opinions. What is your view? I look forward to your answers.
Best regards from Portugal!
Raphael
