What would the concrete installation / mounting of 4 x heat shields available as material on Velux -GGU 308 roof windows – Glass: Width: 62.6 cm, Height: 117.3 cm and the installation of 4 x interior blackout blinds/rollos on the attic windows cost?
Everything can be mounted from the inside!
There is already a high medical and scientific awareness of heat impacts from climate change, especially regarding the unbearable heat in attic apartments in summer.
The problem of heat buildup in attic apartments is the strong greenhouse effect caused by direct heat from sunlight.
Thermal radiation from the sun through roof windows - glass panes is more than just very unpleasant; direct sunlight on the glass in the attic leads to the problem of complete overheating of the rooms. I experience this as torture, which then creates room temperatures that cause me high distress; it is often unbearably hot in the attic.
Due to high outdoor temperatures, "ventilating out" the accumulated heat even at night in summer is not possible.
Attics feel somewhat hell-like to me.
To avoid extreme heat in the attic, a very, very good planning by the architectural office would already have been required during the construction of the multi-family house, which is completely lacking. The problem with a wooden roof structure is often that it only stores heat briefly. Most of the thermal radiation is transmitted directly to the attic rooms, and the attic interiors heat up completely without time delay. Sauna in the attic pure!
What can I demand from the landlord regarding heat?
There is absolutely no legal regulation regarding a limit of unreasonable indoor temperature of a private apartment from which a defect would result. There are only the Technical Rules for Workplaces ASR A3.5 "Room Temperature". A minor defect exists if the heat protection does not meet the state of the art at the time of the building’s construction. If, therefore, the temperature in an attic apartment frequently rises above 30 - 38 degrees during the hot summer months during the day, the comfort threshold of 20 to maximum 25 degrees is clearly exceeded for me. "Roof surface and attic window form a complete system and must be considered as such." "If from two poorly insulated components, the roof and the attic window, the smaller one is improved, it probably has no significant suitable effects." There are sun protection solutions for the windows that can be easily installed from inside or outside with a few screws. Interior sun protection in the form of awnings, rollos or fabric coverings can supposedly block a large part of the heat, but it is "much more efficient if shutters or awnings are mounted outside the window, so that the heat does not even enter the room."
I have initially decided on the solution described above but unfortunately, due to severe illness, I am only walking on crutches and unable to install it myself.
Thank you very much for any advice
