Hello,

my new workshop is a wooden extension with a sloping roof, which consists of tongue-and-groove boards covered with tar paper, supported by cross beams. For the winter, I need to insulate the roof as cost-effectively as possible.

Question: If I place insulation wool between the cross beams, do I still need solid material underneath, or could I, for example, simply stretch burlap under the insulation wool?

I need to be able to continue working in winter and am grateful for any advice.

The insulation thickness and calculated value of the thermal conductivity depend on the room heating loads. These are dependent on the desired RT and the thermal qualities of the components adjacent to outside air or other adjoining types. Minimum requirements for the thermal transmittance resistance or U-value apply both for new buildings and existing buildings, depending on the RT. Regardless of the required limit values, insulation measures should not be considered independently of the heat generator from an economic point of view (economy). With a brine heat pump as a heat generator, excessive insulation measures can usually be avoided; with, for example, a gas condensing boiler, this is rather not the case!

Best regards
