Hello forum,
I am currently planning a small weekend house, size 6 x 8 meters (wood frame construction).
It should have a gable roof with a pitch of 33 degrees.
Roof covering: first a chipboard, then roofing felt, and sheet metal on top.
I do not want to install a ceiling; instead, I want to be able to see the roof pitch from inside the living area. No interior walls will be built either; instead, it will be a completely empty room measuring 6 x 8 meters.
Can the roof structure be designed so that this is possible, or is 6 meters too wide for this open construction method?
If possible, what thickness should the rafters have and at what spacing should they be set?
I think at the top of the ridge, a cross-connector should be installed between the rafters; how far below the ridge should the cross-connector be placed?
Regards, Andy
