I will soon give my roof a new coating. At the moment, I am faced with the question of whether to use a regular roof paint or one with a "Klimaeffekt". Allegedly, the climate paint can partially reflect sunlight and reduce heating in the attic during summer. Is that really true? Has anyone had good experiences with it?

Theoretically, that is possible; whether this coating also works in practice is determined by experience. Unfortunately, I have no experience with roof coatings. For windows, there are also reflective coatings, but these do not prevent the heating of the room in summer heat. Sunlight consists of different wavelengths, and each material reflects its own wavelength (explained somewhat simplistically). A film made of a certain material, let’s say aluminum-coated, therefore only reflects the portion of light that can be reflected by aluminum.

Yes, I also have some doubts as to whether the coating can truly have a significant impact on indoor temperatures. I think I will invest the money better in conventional roof insulation than in a "Klima-Dachbeschichtung".

Yes, with proper thermal insulation you are better off.
