Reserve 2 rows in the distributor for the energy provider?

Hello,

in our new building we have planned a 4-compartment cabinet, 3 compartments for the distribution, 1 compartment for the meter. 7 rows. Because of KNX the cabinet is already relatively full, but there is actually no more space in the technical room.
Now our electrician, who has not yet dealt with our supplier (Bayernwerk), said that the supplier wants to reserve 2 full rows for themselves. In our case, that is 3 x 2 x 12 = 72 TEs. We still have that much free, but then the cabinet would be 99% occupied. More compartments are not possible due to the spatial conditions.

Questions about this, maybe someone can answer them:
- Does anyone of you know this regulation?
- Where is this requirement of the supplier written? I couldn’t find anything about it in the TAB.
- What does the supplier need the 72 TEs for? If we only had one compartment, apparently 24 would be enough for them.
- And above all: Are there no exceptions? Are we supposed to build a new house now or how do they imagine that?

Best regards

Generally, something like this should probably be in the TAB. Otherwise, just call the VNB directly.

So with us, it was like this: the 2 rows above the meter were to be kept free for the supplier. The supplier could then possibly install a modem etc. there for automatic reading.

However, it only became noticeable to me during acceptance. Electrical work was done by ourselves. I did not modify it afterwards.

When the supplier came to connect, everything went smoothly.

What kind of heating system are you getting?

I also think that the key lies in the heating... With a heat pump, you quickly have a second meter and also a tariff switching device included... We have, with some space buffer, a 5-gang meter and distribution cabinet in the basement and an additional 3 distributors for the garage, the [Einliegerwohnung] and the upstairs :-( That already adds up, especially when a few KNX actuators are added...
