Hello,
I will renew the drainage and cold/hot water pipes in our old building (single-family house, 3 floors) myself, basic knowledge is available. Currently present are: galvanized pipes for cold and hot water, partly clay pipes and HT pipes for the drains.
Since the rooms for the bathroom and kitchen are being changed, I have to renew the pipes anyway. The wastewater pipes will be laid in HT, dimensions for connections, diameters, and slope are known to me. It’s about the water pipes.
Questions about this:
- Which system for plastic pipes can you recommend to tap into the galvanized pipe in the basement?
- Do I need a special press for this (to rent)?
- Which insulating material should I use for the new water and HT pipes?
- With which material are the plastic pipes best fastened, hose clamps, Racofix, or something similar?
Another project:
Currently, instantaneous water heaters are installed in the house, but if possible, I would like to connect the hot water supply to the central heating. There is a Viessmann system (oil central) from the year 2000 installed, supply temperature around 60 degrees, as usual for wall radiators.
Do you have any tips for me on which systems including hot water storage would work well with this?
Thanks in advance!
