Hello,

I hope my concern is placed correctly here.

In my apartment, I have a small, interior bathroom where the air so far can only be passively vented through a ventilation grille.

A few years ago, during renovation, I had a drywall ceiling installed with spotlights, and also had a cable hidden there to prepare for switching to an electric fan.

That's exactly what I am working on now. However, I had to cut 2 holes in the ceiling, which I honestly made somewhat roughly with a carpet knife. One about the size of a cigarette pack and one about the size of four cigarette packs. In the smaller hole, the material crumbled out, while in the larger one I was able to remove a contiguous piece of drywall.

What materials and tools do I need and how do I close these holes somewhat neatly? What do I put in the holes and how do I connect it to the rest of the ceiling?

Afterwards, textured wallpaper is to be applied again and the entire ceiling repainted white. Wallpaper was removed in 50x50 cm sections before I made the holes.

Many thanks and best regards!

Take a slat, cut it a bit longer than the opening is long. So that you can push the cut slat into the opening, turn it to fit best, and screw the two ends through the existing drywall with Spax screws (depending on the size of the opening, possibly several slats). Now you can either screw the old drywall sheet or a newly cut one onto the new slats. Then putty, textured wallpaper, paint, done.

The idea with the [Dachlatten] is great, especially since I still have leftovers from building the house. :)

Thanks for the tip!
