Renovation and design of an old house

I am new here and would like to get some tips from you.

I am interested in an existing property. Since I am still quite young and inexperienced in renovating a house, I would like to know what costs I might face. On Saturday, I have a viewing with the owner, so it would be helpful to know which areas I should pay special attention to.

Also, feel free to give me tips on design and construction measures that I should definitely undertake. I was considering either a plaster facade or one made of slate for the exterior. [Was haltet ihr davon, wie hoch sind die kosten zu kalkulieren, etc.]
