Hello everyone,
As a newcomer here and owner of an old building since July 2016, I am now facing an unsolvable problem regarding my house. A threshold beam that runs from the utility room to the bathroom is extremely rotten and damaged and should therefore be replaced. Since this is the old part of the house and the walls there are the thinnest, we have built new walls inside. These are not yet finished all the way to the top, which made me think whether it would also be possible to leave the old threshold beam where it is now but attach a new threshold beam on the new masonry to support the rafters. We had already commissioned a carpenter to replace it, but when asked about an appointment, he never called back and so far I have not found a replacement for him.
Thank you in advance for your help.
