Remove / repaint Oppli TV bench?

Hello everyone,

the spacious Oppli TV bench is no longer available. We still have it in birch. When moving, we would like to switch everything to black-brown. So far, we have everything in this color - only the TV bench is missing. The Oppli has always nicely accommodated all the equipment - we would like to keep that piece of furniture.

I was all the more pleased when I found a Swedish woman on Ikea hacks who "modded" and repainted her Oppli.

Used white and black spray paint (lacquer?). Has anyone ever done something like this? Is there a special paint (brand/type) that one should use?

Here is the author’s response, we will try that:

The blackbrown top is painted with a semitransparent black glazing paint (lasur in german) called BEHANDLA, bought from IKEA. Not sure how many coatings, but I think we had to put on three. For the bottom half we just used a glossy white spray paint of which I do not remember the brand. But first we used a sandpaper to get a rough surface for the paint.
