Hello dear ones,
I will say right away that I am not an expert and ask for forgiveness for my probable ignorance.
We have owned a bungalow for 1 year, which was built from 36.5 cm Poroton bricks.
In our living room, we have installed 1 window measuring 2000mm wide and 800mm high. This is positioned together with the roller shutter box directly below the ring beam.
Due to the fact that it is the south side, we would like to replace this window with a patio window measuring 3000mm wide and 2000mm high + roller shutter box.
We want to remove the old window, open the wall below it, and widen the opening by 1000mm.
Now to my question:
Do the 1000mm width have an insignificant effect on the stability of the gable since the ring beam can carry the weight without any problems? Or does the opening need to be reinforced in some way?
P.S. I am happy to upload a photo of the gable side if needed.
Thank you very much for every answer
Martin
