Hello everyone,

In the new kitchen, there is a niche intended for the refrigerator with the following dimensions: 92cm wide / 73cm deep, 176cm high. This niche was specifically built for a Samsung refrigerator with water connection that already existed 20 years ago and is enclosed on all sides by a wall. The previous owner's refrigerator just fit.

My search for a refrigerator (Side by Side or French) has been rather unsuccessful so far. All other types of refrigerators that are significantly less tall or wide would probably look lost in this very prominently positioned niche. According to my research, Side by Side or French refrigerators are at least 177+ cm tall.

The only refrigerator I have found in Germany would be the PKM SBS376NFWD IX. However, neither the reviews nor the dimensions (too small for the niche) convince me.

There are products from the USA by Whirlpool that would have more suitable dimensions - unfortunately, I have not yet found a dealer who would deliver these to Germany.

With Side by Side/French refrigerators, the front last third is the problem in terms of height because of the doors that are mounted "on top." I contacted Samsung directly with the question of whether the feet could be removed or lowered completely. The front feet could be removed, but I was advised against it due to the minimum clearance of 20cm at the top.

I would appreciate suggestions – also creative ones – for my problem. Ideally, I would like, for example, this refrigerator (SAMSUNG RF5GA5202S9/EG French Door), if you could solve the problem with the height.

Thank you very much

Rough internet searches show some with a height of 177, whether they are any good, no idea.

The casing above the niche can surely be dismantled, right?!

We also have a side by side in a niche. For us, the upper end of the niche is simply a board. If it is the same for you, you could simply remove the board?!

The drywall installer has looked at it and advised against it. It is wood, and tiles are over it. He can only say exactly how everything is built on top when he opens it.
