"Those who build today go bankrupt"

The Central Real Estate Committee warns of a "dramatic collapse" in residential construction. The so-called real estate experts expect that in just three years there will be a shortage of 830,000 apartments in Germany.
These are bleak times for everyone who wants to build or simply look for an apartment: This year, around 600,000 apartments will be missing in Germany, predicts the Central Real Estate Committee (ZIA) in its new spring report. By next year, this number is expected to rise to 720,000, and by 2027 even to 830,000. The country is "blatantly heading toward a social debacle," said ZIA President Andreas Mattner.

Building has become "virtually impossible," according to ZIA
The so-called real estate experts warn of a "dramatic collapse in housing completions" to an expected 150,000 per year. The government’s target of 400,000 is thus moving out of reach. In 2023, this figure was already significantly missed at an estimated 270,000.

I wonder how people want to bring 3-4 children into the world HEUTZUTAGE as in another thread. They no longer have a chance of securing living space; even parental financial support will be absent as they have just provided overpriced living space and will be paying off their loans until their last breath.

That's what dear God invented condoms for. By the way, we still have plenty of living space here in the East in the countryside. Welcome! Seriously, for me this pessimism is mostly lobbying.

If those who think for themselves have fewer children, eighteen years later the outcome of the next elections will be even more determined by the children of the dumb majority. Basic arithmetic.

It wasn’t any different a few years ago regarding future prospects – at least for those who very often have that many children simply because the time is right and they like to be at home all day... Everyone else who provides their children with a good upbringing and especially education can certainly have that many children today. The population is shrinking, skilled workers don’t grow on trees, climate protection is becoming increasingly important, and therefore I see quite rosy future prospects for my three girls. We consciously decided to have three children – I don’t regret it for a minute.

As a landlord, I am familiar with this assessment "830,000 apartments will be missing by 2027." I have had a building with 6 apartments for rent since 2016. Golden times are coming for us landlords.

I was born with open eyes into the apocalypse myself and am now in my mid-fifties, after none of the crashed Starfighters had fallen on my school and I was still able to learn arithmetic and writing before Pisa. My own "Petting instead of Pershing" has not been successful so far, but the children's footsteps in the stairwell still make me happy. They even greet, although youth supposedly was no good even in ancient Greece. The nuclear power plant opposite has long since been demolished. Every Sunday we stroll among trees that grew back in the days of the Kaisers. Possibly our great-grandchildren will still find out whether other planets have also survived an infection with Homo sapiens. That Aztecs and Mayas were long history by the time I appeared never really bothered me. The R4 beneath the Gorleben-should-live sticker has long since rusted away.
