It is indeed very cute when rabbits nibble on flowers, but the flower does not like it at all, and neither does the owner. Anyone who wants to give their rabbit plenty of exercise should lock up the flowers. It's best to fence them off so that the little animal cannot get in. Although many plants are quite poisonous, they are still eaten willingly. However, there are also special products available in specialized stores that can be sprayed on the plants. These are supposed to deter rabbits and other animals from eating them. Since it is toxic, it is not for everyone. Keeping an eye on the rabbit is probably still the best option. Especially if you don't want to buy a new one every day – since they disappear quite quickly.

@Gartenbau Locking up the flowers is really a great idea. I will suggest that to my grandmother right away. Her rabbits run around everywhere and I wonder how the flowers are still there at all. Are there actually fertilizers that are not harmful to animals? Not even to cats, for example?

Oops, I didn't know that garden fertilizer is harmful to animals at all. I really thought only herbicides or pest control products were harmful. But I also think the idea of "locking up flowers" is a good one. Maybe one of those bird nets is enough? If you put it over the garden plants as long as the rabbits are outside? Might also be a bit easier to handle than building fences. Just an idea....:)
