We built a single-family house with a prefab house manufacturer. The final inspection was in 2002.
To date: 3 pipe bursts with total damages of more than 25,000 EUR.
Cause: quality defect in a press fitting in the potable water piping.
Unknown: the number of faulty press fittings installed.

After cancellation of the insurance, insurers requested for a new insurance against water damage mandate the renovation of the entire water piping. Expected costs: comparable to previous damage sum.

What recommendations, tips, or experiences can you give us for a sensible course of action? (Further details gladly available on request by e-mail.)

You will have to bite the bullet... Did the first damage occur during the warranty period and was the damage repaired by the company? Then and only then does the warranty period for this matter start anew for another 5 years. If the damage occurred after the warranty period, then you are out of luck.

Hello nklein-de,

which prefabricated house manufacturer did you build the house with? Were the pressed connectors installed incorrectly or is there a material defect? We are also planning to build a house and would like to learn more. May I add you on Skype for this?

Thank you in advance!

Regards,
vkritz

Good evening vkritz,

the easiest would actually be a conversation over Skype.
