Hello everyone. I am new here and not a professional. I really only have DIY experience. But I have a question that has been on my mind for a long time. Here in the USA, more and more insulation is done with PU foam, and on a very large scale. Can you, as experts, tell me if that is any good and how it is in Germany? You know the American construction style. Wood frame, with drywall on one side and chipboard on the other, and then depending on the budget either plastic cladding or 5 cm bricks. I have heard that this method brings problems:
1. Temperature differences summer/winter
2. Environmentally damaging
3. Harmful to health
4. Efficiency
5. The "breathing" of the wall
6. Price
Especially concerning the price opinions differ... The whole device in a package (trailer) costs about 35,000 US$. The chemicals can’t really cost much and honestly, 1 square meter is insulated in 10 seconds.

For the renovation of old and internally converted roofs, we use PUR/PIR over-rafter insulation. This can also be produced in a factory by spraying and has good insulating properties. There, it is only cut into boards. Have a look at the website Linitherm.de to see if that helps you further. Otherwise, you should consider the use of vapor barriers and airtight membranes.

Kind regards, Dachspezi
