Hello,

a somewhat "unusual" topic. How did you manage to fundamentally make a decision between a condominium or a house for yourselves? And in the end also put your name on the loan agreement for a construction project etc., where you are basically always the amateur, but financially nowadays have to play in the top league. I have been following for a very long time and the good offers come and go. I can’t manage to get the feeling of uncertainty etc. under control. Am I alone with this?

Hello, I think that is completely normal and human. In the USA, buying is like renting. It is normal to buy and sell. In Germany, it feels like a life decision. Does the financial burden fit, how is the environment, will I get a job in the area, etc. I can reassure you! Job-wise, I am used to large numbers, and when we signed the purchase contract at the notary, I immediately thought I had to puke at his feet! What is your biggest obstacle or fear?

Hello HilfeHilfe,

from a financial perspective, we believe we are well positioned. For that, I have been reading for a long time, as I said, and I think I have built up good knowledge, -> respectively benefited from many inquiries here.

The biggest fear is, as always, the "unknown." It already starts with the fact that we cannot come to an agreement on an apartment or a house. A house would be nice, but since we have no experience with building a house, etc., we shy away from the burden and always have the typical horror stories in mind. An apartment would, due to the community, feel like it minimizes the risk for us + better location. But then there is again the fear of the disadvantages of a "community." It's simply the fear of making mistakes that could tear a real hole in the finances. No matter how much I read, it seems to me a sea full of aspects that must be considered. And even then, the feeling remains that one could forget something that the involved counterparties will definitely not point out. I believe it boils down to a lack of trust in this industry.

I actually believe that anyone who deals with large numbers at work finds it easier to handle six-figure sums in their private life than a bakery saleswoman who handles coins daily.
For me, it was relatively easy to make decisions involving thousands of € because that is part of my job, and the amounts there are in the million range.

Not only is there no trust in the construction industry, but also no trust in one's own decisions.
